Biography

Urmi Sarkar is an accomplished architect with extensive experience in architectural practice, academic teaching, and research.Urmi holds her Master’s degree in Architecture from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) and her Bachelor of Architecture from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). Her academic path reflects consistent excellence, recognized through multiple merit scholarships in different semester at SUST and during her Master’s studies at IIT Roorkee.

Urmi has a knack for designing architectural user experience and interpretation through enhancing the quality of life. Her emerging research interest focuses on co-design approaches for creating biodiversity-positive environments that harmonize nature and the built form. Passionate about sustainable architecture, energy-efficient design, blue-green infrastructure, ecology, and nature conservation. She strives to integrate environmental consciousness into every design decision. With experience in environmental design, building performance simulation, and net-zero architecture, she values collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. As an educator, Urmi inspires future architects to think critically and design with empathy for both people and the planet.
